Reinventing ourselves: from R&D to a user-centric and business-friendly preferences platform

After 4 years of existence and significant exchanges with EU institutions governments, regulators and NGOS, our team realised that it was time to transition from Research & conceptualisation (building a "tech-for-good" privacy-centric tool for individuals) to a business-oriented solution (namely a marketplace that would be both tracking-free and under users' control).

We decided to integrate GenZ collaborators' vision into ours and operated a strategic and operational reorg. Today, our project switches from a great theoretical idea to a handy app experience, incidentally demonstrating that the "Light web" is feasible (a web in which users control how they will be targeted and content will be displayed to them).

Our team shifted from providing tools like consent managers or automated privacy signals (e.g., setting privacy preferences in browsers) to creating a platform where individuals receive curated deals and discounts aligned with their preferences while retaining control over their data. From a Proof of Concept (our cookie banner auto-filling app on iOS and Chrome) to a ready-to-be-used-personalised marketplace.

Such shift also means that ID side seeks to promote a Business Partnership Models: on the top of APIs and dashboards for businesses to access anonymized, consented consumer insights, ID side also fosters relationships with brands and retailers to populate the marketplace with high-quality deals.
