ID side contribution to ongoing EU Commission reflection about Standards and Governance for privacy and portability

25 February 2019

Along with two innovative French start-ups giving an oversight of their developing activities to DG Justice, ID side contributed to ongoing EU Commission reflection about "Standards and Governance for privacy and portability".

Among other points, ID side shared about its Tech tool research -empowering individuals to automatically share their individual reasonable expectations seamlessly and wherever they browse using ID side plugin (i.e. individuals’ by-default privacy choices such as "analytics cookies are ok" but not "commercial ones").

ID side helped illustrating that creative tools align with GDPR legal framework and the “specific and informed” consent requirement overseen by Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).

In our latest ID side prototype, individuals receive requests for specific consent in a targeted “Contact box” on ID side (separated from other private mailboxes) in which companies can ask whether individuals are interested in their brand/service/product/communication. They will in fact, ask in a simplified, intelligible and timely way (individuals will look at this contact box when they have time!) for being provided with a specific consent. Based on their interests, individuals will provide targeted consents to certain entities, as best pleases them. For instance, a person whose reasonable expectation is to avoid being commercially targeted could grant a specific authorisation to company C (but not companies A, B, D…) to be targeted for at least 15% discounts.
